There are many things that families can support learning at home, but here are a few suggestions to get started:
- Have the student read to an adult at home every night to practice reading fluency.
- Question the student about the characters and the plot while they are reading and ask them to retell the story when they are finished reading.
- Ask the student to tell you about what they learned in school, specifically ask about what they learned about concerning how people and animals adapt to different situations.
- Check the student's homework when they are finished. Make sure it is done neatly and the student made an honest effort to complete the assignment.
