:Coalition for Global Concern: is a Seattle University club based on the Jesuit ethic of service, knowledge,
and social justice. Our mission is to educate ourselves, our campus, and our local community
about local, domestic, and global injustices.

We are deeply concerned about unjust and militaristic social, economic, and political structures, but are not affiliated with any political party or ideological movement. Our arguments, prayers, reflections for non-violence and justice come from the ethical call of the oppressed, marginal, and needy in the world.

We sponsor speakers, films, and performers, publish articles on peace and justice, hold vigils and protests, and act as citizen activists. We believe that knowledge inspires action, and by using our bodies, our voices, and our determination we strive to effect change.

:CGC: is concerned with a number of issues, including, but not limited to:

  • Abolishing the death penalty
  • Closing the School of the Americas
  • Making fair trade foods/beverages and sweatshop-free clothing items available to our community
  • Learning how to lobby for legislation and become otherwise politically involved
  • Raising awareness about human rights abuses stemming from the Palestine-Israel conflict, the Iraqi war, the genocide in Darfur, Sudan, and other global conflicts
  • Protecting the environment through simple sustainable living
