About ASME at SU

ASME at Seattle University operates both as a chartered ASME student section and an university club, observing both ASME student section and Seattle University club regulations and by-laws.

As a chartered ASME student section, our purpose is to provide students with an opportunity to join an engineering society; to inform students of recent developments in the field of mechanical engineering through publication, field trips and meetings, to promote fellowship and interaction with other student sections as well as the local professional section of the ASME. ASME at Seattle University is one of 33 student sections in Region VIII (covering Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and parts of Western Canada) that includes University of Washington, Washington State University, University of British Columbia, Oregon State University, and Gonzaga University.

Seattle University enter a number of competitions each year; competing locally in the Western Washington section, regionally in the Regional Student Conference (RSC), and nationally by entering ASME sponsored competitions.

As university club, we strive to be one of the most dynamic clubs on campus. We engage in external competitions (as a club activity/sport) and outreach activities whenever possible, generating goodwill, exposure, and recognition. We fulfill Seattle University mission by providing club members with a multitude of intellectually challenging opportunities while developing competence, character, and leadership.
